Bathymetric Survey

Bathymetric Survey in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, DRC Congo, Mozambique, Zambia, and the rest of the East African region.

A bathymetric survey is a method of measuring and mapping the depth and topography of underwater terrains, such as oceans, lakes, and rivers, using sonar technology or other specialized instruments. The resulting data can be used to create detailed maps of underwater features, which are useful for a variety of applications such as navigation, resource exploration, and environmental studies.

There are several techniques for conducting a bathymetric survey, including:

  1. Multibeam sonar: This technique involves using multiple sonar beams to measure the depth of the water and create a detailed 3D map of the seafloor.
  2. Single-beam echosounder: This technique involves using a single sonar beam to measure the depth of the water and create a two-dimensional map of the seafloor.
  3. LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging): This technique uses laser light to measure the distance between the survey vessel and the seafloor.
  4. Satellite altimetry: This technique involves using radar measurements from satellites to determine the height of the ocean surface, which can be used to calculate the depth of the seafloor.
  5. Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP): This technique is used to measure the speed and direction of ocean currents, which can help to identify areas of deep water or underwater terrain features.

These techniques can be used individually or in combination to obtain the most accurate and detailed bathymetric survey data.

Sectors we serve:

  • Government agencies: National and local governments often require bathymetric surveys to support their activities related to navigation, environmental management, and resource exploration.
  • Ports and harbors: Bathymetric surveys can help port and harbor operators to better understand the seafloor topography and plan for dredging or construction activities.
  • Offshore oil and gas companies: Bathymetric surveys can identify potential oil and gas reserves under the seabed and help companies plan for drilling and production activities.
  • Marine construction and engineering firms: Bathymetric surveys can help these firms plan and design structures such as bridges, pipelines, and offshore wind farms.
  • Environmental consulting firms: Bathymetric surveys can be used to support environmental studies, such as monitoring the impacts of dredging activities on the seafloor.
