Southern Engineering Company (SECO) has unveiled Alpha 2500, which is the largest locally built marine vessel that meets internationally recognized IRCLASS standards.The 65m barge has a capacity of 2500 dead weight tonnage and will be deployed for use in the transportation of heavy machinery and marine projects cargo along the East African coast.The owner of the barge, Alpha Logistics Services (EPZ) Ltd, is currently positioning itself as a marine logistics provider especially in Lamu where the construction of the new port is underway.
